Alyssa Jones
FranceABC Teacher
Bonjour!
My name is Alyssa Jones and I live in the beautiful Canadian Rockies with my fiancé. I grew up in Ontario with a large family and attended Huron University College at the University of Western Ontario for my Bachelor of Arts.
My Story
During my time at University, I took every chance I could to immerse myself more fully into French Canadian culture and attended the French immersion summer program Explore in Trois Pistoles, Québec. I finished with a double major in Political Science and French Language and Literature and used my love of French to lead me back to Québec to work with the program Odyssey/Odyssée. I worked as an English Language Monitor at a high school just north of Montreal and spent my free time with the French family I lived with or exploring the beauty of Québec.
This experience inspired me to attend the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University for my Bachelor of Education with a specialty in Junior/Intermediate French as a second language. Upon graduation I moved out west to pursue a dream of living and working in the mountains. Before working with France ABC, I worked at Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity as a Public Programs Officer where I facilitated and/or ran programming to engage our local community in the arts. When I am not teaching with France ABC, I can be found climbing, hiking, or skiing in the mountains.
